Abstract
This paper describes the logical design of a decision support system for the Italian National Institute of Health to be consulted about the appropriate uses of drugs. Data Base design for this system (SIDAF: Information System for pharmaceutical Data) is performed in 2 steps:
-Requirements analysis (the user's level of abstraction);
-Logical Data Base synthesis (the system's logical level of abstraction).
In first step guidelines concerning the definition of a general format for information are described. The problem of logical Data Base synthesis is described, in the second step, by a Top-Down development and an optimal set of relations in the Codd's Third Normal Form is derived.
