Abstract

The family physician is often expected, and should be able, competently to provide emergency dental treatment. With the knowledge of relatively few techniques and materials, this care can often be simply provided. Treatment discussed includes: odontogenic infections, avulsions, fractured teeth, post-operative bleeding and pain, dentures, dental caries, periodontal problems, analgesics, and allergy to local anesthetic.

Keywords: emergency dental treatment, family physician
