Abstract

In May of 1987, Duke University Medical Center commenced the pilot testing of a model for achieving Integrated Academic Information Management Systems (IAIMS) that was based upon the concept of the integration of distributed resources. A questionnaire was used to obtain a profile of information management resource usage and perceived information system needs in the pilot test sites. Baseline results, which indicated that the pilot sites were limited in their use of information management resources when networking or shared resources were required, supported the concept of the DUMC IAIMS model.
