Table 1.

Delayed neonatal vascularization in P7 Rap1b−/− retinas

Vascularized area
Total area
Rap1b−/− Rap1b+/− Rap1b+/+ Mutant/control Mutant/control
Rap1b+/− vs Rap1b−/− 57.3 ± 3.4 74.3 ± 2.5 76.7 ± 3.8 89.0 ± 9.9
Rap1b+/− vs Rap1b+/+ 73.7 ± 3.0 72.3 ± 3.4 102.3 ± 2.9 100.2 ± 1.1

Data are means plus or minus SEM of percentages of vascularized area to total area or total area relative to littermate controls. Quantitation of the vascularized area of the P7 retinas as a percentage of the total retinal area indicates a reduction in vascularized area of retinas from rap1b−/− mice compared with rap1b+/− littermates (top row), but no difference between rap1b+/− and WT littermates (bottom row; n = 5 for either group). There is no significant difference in the total retinal area between mutant and control mice (far right column).
