Streptococcal Pharyngitis—An Analysis of the Diagnostic Process for Ambulant Patients

Abstract

In an analysis of the diagnostic procedure for streptococcal pharyngitis, it was found that physicians had difficulty distinguishing bacterial and non-bacterial upper respiratory infections. It was also found that a nurse can realiably take a pharyngeal swab—this would result in saving time and expense.
