As Editor of the JCACAP, I am delighted to announce that the Journal has been accepted for indexing in PubMed and PubMed Central. This occasion opens up a wealth of new opportunities for the Journal. We will increase our visibility significantly as a scientific journal, as well as the visibility of the Academy; contributing authors will get further recognition regarding their contributions to the Journal and the opportunity for more national and international exposure will enhance both our readership and submission rates. For those who have been following the Journal since its name change (and appearance) with the February 2006 issue, the acceptance for indexing in PubMed is one of the key goals for the journal that has now been achieved. All issues since February 2006 have been already included in PubMed. Readers may also note that the Journal has also been indexed on PsycINFO, CINAHL and Scopus for some time.
For those who would like to visit the JCACAP on PubMed, it is accessible through the PubMed website at www.pubmed.gov. Just type in the official National Library of Medicine journal abbreviation of “J Can Acad Child Adolesc Psychiatry” to see the journal articles included. As has been the case since our new CACAP website was established, the journal remains “open access” with no charges for submission or publication. PDF files of each of the published articles are freely available at the academy website at www.cacap-acpea.org. In addition, the journal issues are freely available in XML format at the PubMed Central website. This open access will help to continue to disseminate the scientific research published in our journal.
I would like to thank the board of the CACAP in supporting the advancement of the JCACAP, including this application. I would also like to thank our Editorial Board member, Dr. Joshua Fogel, for his guidance regarding the application process, as well as Ms. Vicki Simmons, Editorial Assistant, for her assistance as well.
