Abstract

This paper describes the organization of an epidemiological survey, carried out by the Lipid Centre of the Institute of Experimental Medicine in Leningrad, particularly the ways in which subjects were recruited. The different methods of recruitment resulted in a total population response of 78.14%. A time index is introduced to estimate the efficiency of each method of recruitment, and on the basis of results from this study, a generalized scheme for the planning of other surveys is proposed.
