A dialysis membrane method is described which allows (i) cultivation of fungi on an agar support, (ii) observation of growth and development by direct light microscopy, (iii) transfer of cultures from agar surfaces for subsequent treatments or for biochemical analysis, and (iv) preparation for scanning electron microscopy.
