Moira O'Brien is Professor of Anatomy at Trinity College Dublin and is involved in teaching medical students, physiotherapists and occupational therapists. The department runs a 1‐year full‐time Masters in sports medicine, and Moira is the director and one of the main lecturers. The department also runs a sports injury clinic and osteoporosis clinic. It is part of the PACE scheme, monitoring elite athletes.
She is doctor to the Irish International Rowing Federation.
At present, she is rewriting the body and motion module for the Bath sports medicine course. She is external examiner for the intercollegiate Board of Sports and Exercise Medicine and a member of the Board of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine. She is also a member of the Board of European Bone and Joint Health Strategies, Sports Medicine section. She is chairman of the Irish Osteoporosis Society.
