Abstract
The kidneys often are involved during viral diseases, but seem to be peculiarly resistant to injury in contrast to other organs and tissues. They rarely bear the brunt of infection. Clinical evidence of viral nephritis or nephrosis seldom is of serious import and when it occurs it may be indistinguishable from that of other cause unless specific diagnostic criteria are fulfilled. With increasing interest in the subject, as happens in other circumstances, more evidence of acute or chronic viral injury to the kidneys no doubt will accrue.
