Effect of β-Lysin on Isolated Cell Walls and Protoplasts of Bacillus subtilis

Abstract

The cytoplasmic membrane is the site of β-lysin action. Protoplasts lysed rapidly in its presence, whereas cell walls and wall autolysis were unaffected.
