Patients Needed for Study on the Mechanism of Chromosome Breakage in Subtelomeres
Patients with identified subtelomeric rearrangements are encouraged to enroll in a study at Emory University in the Department of Human Genetics. The lab of Dr. Katie Rudd is researching the mechanism of DNA breakage at the ends of chromosomes. Participants will be requested to give a blood sample, and subtelomeric breakpoints will be identified by high-resolution array CGH. A postdoctoral fellow position, The Joseph Stokes, Jr. Research Institute of The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
The Postdoctoral Fellow will have a terminal degree PhD, MD, DVM, etc. and will, under the direction/guidance of Dr Struan F.A. Grant (principal investigator), assume responsibility for the specific research project that is being established.
We are developing techniques to follow-up some compelling signals that have come out of recent genome wide association studies of metabolic disease. The postdoc will undertake approaches primarily based on chromatin immuno-precipitation (ChIP) and next-generation sequencing.
We are looking for a candidate with experience in both handling pancreatic islet cells and working with polymerase chain reaction (PCR) based techniques.
In addition, experience in sequencing and some statistical understanding of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genotyping data would be beneficial.

Evolutionary Developmental Geneticist, Department of Anthropology at The Pennsylvania State University
The Department of Anthropology at The Pennsylvania State University seeks an Evolutionary Developmental Geneticist at the rank of Associate or Full Professor with a research program that focuses on the role of developmental programs in human evolution. The successful candidate will use methods and techniques of evolutionary-developmental biology including but not limited to comparative anatomy, evolutionary and comparative genomics and bioinformatics, computational biology, experimental or functional genetics in model animal or cell systems to shed light on the evolution and development of morphological and physiological phenotypes in humans and model organisms. The candidate will be expected to establish strong links between the Department of Anthropology and The Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences and to maintain a strong externally funded research and educational program. Postdoctoral Fellowship at Wayne State University School of Medicine/Detroit Medical Center in Clinical Biochemical Genetics
The Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics, in conjunction with Detroit Medical Center University Laboratories, is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Biochemical Genetics. The training will include a wide range of laboratory techniques and tests, didactic classroom learning and exposure to metabolic patients in the clinical and hospital setting through the Division of Genetic and Metabolic Disorders at Children's Hospital of Michigan, which is the State of Michigan's designated provider of newborn screening follow up and management. The fellow will also spend time training at the State Newborn Screening Laboratory located in Lansing, Michigan. The biochemical genetics laboratory and genetics clinical faculty combine to provide excellent resources for learning.
The two year training program (1 year for those who have already completed training in another American Board of Medical Genetics-accredited laboratory specialty or a Medical Genetics Residency) will lead to active candidacy for the American Board of Medical Genetics specialty in Clinical Biochemical Genetics.
Applicants should have a background in biochemistry, cell biology, cell physiology or genetics. A PhD or MD is required. International graduates must meet the requirements set forth by the American Board of Medical Genetics. The ability to work with various individuals is expected.
