Simultaneous Treatment of Hypertension and Opiate Withdrawal Using an α2-Adrenergic Agonist

Abstract

This report describes the treatment of a Viet Nam veteran with an α2-adrenergic agonist (clonidine) for hypertension which had an additional beneficial effect of allowing withdrawal in ten days from 20 mg of methadone a day with minimal withdrawal symptoms.
