Abstract

This presentation describes a project undertaken by the Schools of Nursing, Medicine, and Allied Health of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center that incorporates both educational and clinical application components. The project is organized in three phases: Pilot, Development and Operational Activation of patient management simulations and Patient Unit Clinical Simulation. A unique aspect of this project is the evolutionary and sequential educational transition from a simulated computer based environment to an actual hospital inpatient unit. The project was designed to promote interdisciplinary interaction in both educational and clinical settings. The paper describes the accomplishments to date as well as future plans.
