Canadian Cardiovascular Congress 2007 – plan to attend! Quebec City, Quebec • October 20 to 24, 2007

Planning for this year’s Canadian Cardiovascular Congress is well underway. With the call for abstracts now open, workshops, late breaking clinical trials and the choice of 16 cosponsored, educational satellite symposia, we anticipate another phenomenal year of world-class scientific presentations. Also available this year is the simultaneous interpretation in English and French of all plenary sessions, as well as several French workshops. New in the Community Forum, a live session theatre and two moderated poster theatres will be the hotspots for interactive discussion and networking.

Quebec City is well known for its historical areas, cobblestone roadways and delicious foods. The Local Arrangements Committee co-chairs, Dr Bernard Cantin and Dr Franck Molin, are planning an unforgettable City Night. Get your tickets early!

Call for CCS Award nominations – help us recognize and celebrate the significant contributions of your fellow cardiovascular colleagues!

Each year, it is an honour to recognize the outstanding achievements of colleagues with the presentation of awards of excellence in research, teaching, exemplary care or contributions to the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

The Society would appreciate nominations for the following CCS Awards:

  • Annual Achievement Award

  • Dr Harold N Segall Award of Merit

  • Distinguished Teacher Award

  • Research Achievement Award

  • Student Presentation Award

  • Trainee Excellence in Education Award

  • Young Investigator Award

  • Dr Robert E Beamish Award (supported by The Canadian Journal of Cardiology)

In addition to these, we ask for nominations for the following awards:

  • Anemia Institute for Research and Education Award (supported by the Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society –Cardiovascular and Thoracic Section)

  • Richard Rowe Research Prize (supported by the Canadian Pediatric Cardiology Association)

  • Dr Paul Cartier Cardiac Surgery Resident Research Award (supported by the Canadian Society of Cardiac Surgeons)

CCS/CCSA ANNUAL ADULT CARDIOLOGY TRAINEE REVIEW PROGRAM

When: May 4 to 6, 2007

Where: Sheraton Gateway Hotel at the Toronto International Airport, Toronto, Ontario

The Adult Cardiology Trainee Review Program is a valuable opportunity for third-year adult cardiology residents preparing for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada –Examination in Cardiology. The program puts knowledge and examination writing skills to the test, and provides an opportunity to network with program faculty and fellow trainees from across Canada.

CCS HEART FAILURE CONSENSUS CONFERENCE PROGRAM

June 7 to 9, 2007

Heart Failure Summit, Toronto, Ontario

The CCS has an ongoing commitment to establishing, promoting and assessing evidence-based recommendations for the treatment of heart failure in Canada. The CCS Heart Failure Consensus Conference Program workshops are 90-minute interactive sessions that provide Canadian health care professionals a forum to discuss, debate and provide feedback on the recently published CCS Heart Failure Consensus Conference Update 2007. Active participation in these workshops will help to establish benchmarks of care for Canadian heart failure patients and help to define ongoing improvements for the next updated recommendations publication in 2008.
