A) Plasma ethanol concentrations were measured 3h into the feeding/dark cycle. Values represent means ± SEM, n=3 for pair-fed and 6–10 for ethanol-fed. B) Immunoreactive CYP2E1 protein in liver lysates after day 4 (2% d2) and day 39 (5% wk 4) was measured by Western blot. Values are expressed as percent increase over pair-fed and represent means ± SEM, n=4, *p<0.05 compared to pair-fed. C) Immunoreactive 4-hydroxynonenal (4-HNE) adducts were visualized by immunohistochemistry in formalin-fixed liver sections from mice at day 4 (2% d2) and day 39 (5% wk 4).
