Cell-cell fusion assays of wild-type (WT) and MPER mutants GWGIK, LWGIG and LGYGK. Data shown is the average of four experiments (with transfected Cos-1 cells), for each of which samples were run in duplicate. Luciferase activity (RLU, relative light units) was determined as per the manufacturer’s instructions, and normalized as a percentage of that observed with the wild-type.
