a

Summary of complementation results on EBV-mediated fusion with rhesus (Rh), marmoset (M) and HHV8 gH and gL (column 3 and 4). Cell surface expression of these proteins when paired with either EBV gH or gL as well as the expression of virus specific gH/gL is shown in column 1. Both heterologous and homologous gH/gL complexes were also examined for their ability to bind to EBVgp42 (column 2).

b

Enhanced fusion, especially with epithelial cells.

c

Very low fusion, not higher than 30%, but still detectable over the background.

d

Expression lower or undetectable with the E1D1 Ab.
