The purpose of the Corrigendum is to make the reader aware of an error in protein assignment that occurred in this paper. Attempting to improve the quantitative dynamic range of these measurements, Dr. E. Boja performed quantitative iTRAQ analysis on the same samples used in this paper (for methodology see Boja et al., Ref. 1). In the course of these experiments, we discovered that the protein identified as mitochondria citrate synthase was actually cytosolic ATP citrate lyase. This error was caused by the nomenclature in the original database used to analyze the mass spectrometric data. Thus, all references to citrate synthase protein detection in this paper should be replaced by ATP citrate lyase. This error invalidates any conclusions reached concerning mitochondrial citrate synthase that, based on our retrospective review, was not detected in this study. The directional changes and identifications of the other mitochondria proteins were confirmed by these iTRAQ studies. Hence, the majority of the data was unaffected by other errors in the database.

The authors sincerely regret this error and believe that it was important to notify the readers of the Journal.
