Former clinical medical officer in community paediatrics Manchester (b Leeds 1925; q Leeds 1949; DCH), died on 2 November 2003 after a stroke.
After initial appointments in York and Leeds, she trained in paediatrics in Manchester and then undertook research as an assistant to Professor Aron Holzel on C-reactive protein in streptococcal and allied diseases. Following a career break to bring up a young family, she worked in community paediatrics and also in the anticoagulant clinic at Manchester Royal Infirmary. She fought ill health in the last 10 years of life and leaves a husband, Sam; two children; and two granddaughters.
