I want to thank Dr. Soparkar for accepting the responsibility of serving as guest editor for this issue of Seminars in Plastic Surgery titled “Periocular Aesthetics.” I am especially grateful to the invited authors for taking time from their busy schedules to write articles and share their knowledge and experience.

Dr. Soparkar is a leader in the field of oculoplastic and reconstructive eye surgery both locally and nationally. He received his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts and completed his ophthalmology residency training at Baylor College of Medicine. In addition, he has completed three fellowships in ophthalmology. He holds an appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine, is Deputy Chief of the Ophthalmology Service at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas, and is a clinical specialist in the Departments of Plastic Surgery/Head and Neck Surgery at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Soparkar is also an integral member of the craniofacial team at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.

Dr. Soparkar is presently in private practice with Plastic Eye Surgery Associates in Houston, Texas.
