Transgenic plants with gypsy insulators exhibited improved hygromycin resistance. The promoter analysis vectors pHGWFS7 (control) and pGYPSY (with gypsy insulators) included a hygromycin resistance marker. Single-locus transgenic lines were cultured on hygromycin (Hyg) or control (B5) medium. (A) Comparison of pGYPSY-SIRT2 with pHGWFS7-SIRT2. Silent Information Regulator 2 (SIRT2) is a promoter sequence of AT5G09230. (B) Comparison of pGYPSY-At1g68450 with pHGWFS7-At1g68450. At1g68450 is a protein-coding sequence of the corresponding gene. The root lengths of 6-day-old seedlings were measured. Each treatment was carried out on 19 transgenic lines.
