In the article by Israel-Ballard et al, appearing in the Journal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes, Vol. 48, No. 4, pp. 444–449, entitled “Vitamin Content of Breast Milk from HIV-1-Infected Mothers Before and After Flash-Heat Treatment,” the description of folate concentrations was incomplete. On p. 447, the second sentence of the fourth paragraph of the Discussion section should read: With the exception of folate, which was both higher and lower than reports in industrialized settings, concentrations observed here are lower than previously reported in raw human milk from well-nourished women in industrialized countries.37–39
