Do we face a third revolution in human history? If so, how will public health respond?

The above paper, which was published in this Journal in December 2008, requires the following corrigendum to be made. In the paper we refer to a model known as the ‘three horizons’ and provided the original reference for this framework. We knew that this model has been adapted by a Scotland-based organization known as the International Futures Forum, which has deepened the original analysis to create a framework for thinking about longer term social change, but were not aware that this work was shortly to be published. Readers may be interested in having this reference, which we would have used had it been available at the time:

Curry A, Hodgson A. Seeing in multiple horizons: connecting futures to strategy. J Futures Stud 2008;13:1–20.

The re-worked three horizons model presented in the above paper is more like to be of interest to a public health readership interested in the issues outlined in our paper. The website of the International Futures Forum is also a useful source of further information: http://www.internationalfuturesforum.com.
