General practitioner Chelmsford, Essex (b Bihar, India, 1936; q Darbhanga 1962; MS), died from a brain tumour on 19 November 2003.

After training in general surgery in India, Tarun Mehrotra moved to the United Kingdom in 1969. He worked as a senior house officer and surgical registrar in several UK hospitals, but decided to become a general practitioner in 1980. He established a singlehanded practice at Chelmsford in 1983. Because of his illness, he was not able to work for a year. He leaves a wife, Saroj; two children; and a grandson.
