(A) Wild-type PAO1; (B) CDR0031 (−Ara, WaaP-depleted); (C) CDR0060 (−Ara, WapP/WapQ/PA5006-depleted). Severe perturbations (lengthening and invaginations) of the IM (indicated by arrows) were observed for WaaP- and WapP/WapQ/PA5006-depleted cells, consistent with accumulation of truncated LPS which is not exported to the OM.
