PLANT BIOLOGY. For the article “MADS box genes control vernalization-induced flowering in cereals,” by Ben Trevaskis, David J. Bagnall, Marc H. Ellis, W. James Peacock, and Elizabeth S. Dennis, which appeared in issue 22, October 28, 2003, of Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA (100, 13099–13104; first published October 13, 2003; 10.1073/pnas.1635053100), the authors note that while their paper was in press, the article “TaVRT-1, a putative transcription factor associated with vegetative to reproductive transition in cereals,” by Jean Danyluk, Ndjido A. Kane, Ghislain Breton, Allen E. Limin, D. Brian Fowler, and Fathey Sarhan, which appeared in issue 4, August 2003, of Plant Physiol. (132, 1849–1860; first published July 10, 2003; 10.1104/pp.103.023523), reached the same conclusion regarding the vernalization locus in wheat.
