I thoroughly agree with Dr. Bernard Rollin’s response to the ethical question regarding the merits of new and expensive treatments over older tried and true methods (Can Vet J 2011;52:1048–1050). I think every practitioner should post a copy of Dr. Rollin’s article on a bulletin board as a reminder not to price services out of reach of many potential clients. I hope licensing boards also read this and follow Dr. Rollin’s advice to monitor medical records and client complaints, rather than assuming that what is new is better.
