Abstract

A 49-year-old patient, referred with a diagnosis of right atrial myxoma, was found at surgery to have extensive cardiac metastases from a previously undetected cutaneous melanoma. In reviewing the literature, we found 5 other patients with a clinical diagnosis of melanoma metastatic to the heart, all of whom had a previous history of melanoma. In no other case has cardiac involvement been the 1st manifestation of a malignant cutaneous melanoma. (Texas Heart Institute Journal 1990;17:136-8)
