Since its first publication in 1974, this highly successful book has provided a wealth of general ENT knowledge to undergraduate and postgraduate students. It is not intended as a textbook; it provides a wonderful visual guide to diagnosis of a large range of ENT conditions.

This 5th edition has been updated to include extended discussion on topics such as paediatrics, facial plastic surgery and head and neck disorders. It also has more photographs (over 660) and some excellent illustrations. There are five main sections. The ENT examination section provides an excellent overview of the examination techniques, range of equipment, imaging modalities and diagnostic tests, including basic audiology. The sections on the ear, the nose, the pharynx and larynx, and the head and neck, cover the most common ENT conditions with some descriptions of the more unusual ones as well.

You do not have to be specifically interested in ENT to appreciate or find this book of use. ENT-related pathology features in many other medical disciplines and medical and nursing staff and students in general practice, paediatrics, maxillofacial surgery, ophthalmology, and accident and emergency will find this book an invaluable resource and reference guide.
