TEM images of MWNTs coated using the basket method with a cotton fiber wrapping. These nanotubes were coated with 50 cycles of Al2O3 ALD at 90°C using a recipe of 1s TMA/30 N2/1s H2O/30s N2. This recipe resulted in nanotubes with a range of film thicknesses from a) no coating to b) coatings up to approximately 4 nm. The variation in film conformality is likely due to inadequate diffusion of precursor gases through the cotton fiber wrap.
