(A, B) CLR and CGRP were simultaneously localized in stomach, ileum and colon tissue sections. CGRP-IR was detected in close proximity to CLR-positive neurons. CGRP- and CLR-positive nerve fibers intertwined, and in a few locations, colocalization seemed apparent in the stomach, ileum (arrows) (A), and colon (B). Thus, CGRP is localized nearby CLR, suggesting it could function as a ligand for CLR•RAMP1. Single optical sections are shown, except where noted.
