Advances in medicine are like a profusion of spring blossoms, bringing hope and pleasure to the human spirit. We’ve come a long way from the days when early man called upon supernatural spirits to heal the sick. Contemporary medicine places its faith in science and the pace of medical advances is breathtaking. In the 21st century, genomic medicine is nothing short of revolutionary, and promises to bring great benefit to human health.

In society today, the medical journal is the vehicle which transports the evolving realms of knowledge, delivering them to as wide an audience as possible. Clinicians and medical scientists absorb new findings from the published words of medical journals and are led down the path to successful discovery and treatment. It is important for a journal to have good editors alongside their peer reviewers. Both are of the essence in assuring that our newborn journal - North American Journal of Medical Sciences (NAJMS) - will publish qualified works.

Our newborn comes into the world infused with the gene for infinite possibilities because NAJMS will cover the latest advances in medical science, including both clinical and pre-clinical studies. The journal boasts a committed group of experienced medical editors to ensure that the content is of impeccable quality, and will shortly organize a group of international consultants to offer advice.

NAJMS is particularly devoted to rapid publication and to providing a high quality information source in all medical disciplines. As an online resource, the journal will be continually available to medical professionals around the world. We encourage readers to submit articles on any topic related to the medical sciences.

The first issue of the journal offers carefully selected and reviewed papers written by scientists and physicians who are eminent in their fields. The main theme is the inner workings of clinical studies and preclinical investigations. Different types of articles encompassing different themes will be published in the future.

Let's hope that NAJMS, our newborn infant, grows up strong and healthy, and will be a powerful conduit for modern medical knowledge.
