I thank Professor Schmidt for his comment that amblyopia can be successfully treated also in adults. I can confirm this observation from my own clinical experience. However, the situation that the amblyopic eye has to be used for reading after the vision deteriorated in the originally better eye is extremely rare. For this reason this fact could not be included within the context of our article and its limited word count.
