·Congratulations to Dr. Martine Boulianne, a professor in the Département de sciences cliniques at the Faculté de médecine vétérinaire, who was named Person of the Year by the Canadian agricultural publication Canadian Poultryman (L'Aviculteur). Dr. Boulianne was the subject of a special article in the publication, and was also added to the publication's annual “Who's who” listing. Members of the CVMA may remember Dr. Boulianne as the featured veterinarian in the “chicken and egg” advertisement, that was part of the CVMA's advertising campaign in 1996. ·Congratulations to Canadian veterinarians who recently completed the requirements for board certification from the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. The newly-certified specialists are: Internal medicine — large animal Dr. Alison Moore Keir, Cambridge, Ontario Dr. Renaud Leguillette, St. Hyacinthe, Quebec Dr. J. ·Dr. Richard Latt is among the pioneers in the field of laboratory animal medicine. His many achievements in the field of laboratory animal medicine were celebrated with the awarding of the 2001 Charles River Canada Award. Dr. Latt was on hand to receive the award at a special ceremony during the World Small Animal Veterinary Congress this summer in Vancouver. He is currently the Director of Animal Resources Center, and university animal care officer at McGill University, and a consultant to the Council of Accreditation for the American Association for Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care. Dr. Latt holds the distinction of being the first Canadian veterinarian to become a Diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine.
