As of February 18, 2002, Mr. Jost am Rhyn joined the CVMA as its Executive Director, replacing Mr. Claude Paul Boivin. Mr. am Rhyn, who has been involved in association management for 20 years, graduated in Switzerland in business administration and economics.

Our Association will benefit from his vast experience as an executive director, and utilize his leadership and financial management skills in overseeing our national association's activities, and providing leadership to our capable staff at the national headquarters office in Ottawa,” said Dr. Michael Baar, CVMA President. “We on Executive and Council, in particular, are looking forward to working with him.”
Prior to joining the CVMA, Mr. am Ryhn led the Canadian Synchronized Swimming Association Inc. (Synchro Canada) as its Executive Director for 10 years. Synchro Canada is the national governing body of the Olympic sport of Synchronized Swimming, Canada's most successful women's sport. Jost am Rhyn also served as Manager of Finance and Administration for the Canadian Legal Information Centre. In Switzerland, Mr. am Rhyn managed the business of the Swiss Florist Association and FTD (Florist Transworld Delivery service) as Executive Director for 7 years. In this capacity, he developed and delivered new membership services, such as business management consulting and professional development, and created a national wholesale business to better serve the members.
During his involvement in the corporate sector, Jost am Rhyn worked for the Swiss Insurance Company and later served the Mövenpick Enterprise Headquarters in Zurich in business organization and restructuring.
As a volunteer, he sits on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE), where he served as a Co-Chair of the Membership Committee and currently serves as Co-Chair of the Advocacy Committee.
Mr. am Rhyn works in both official languages. His mother tongue is Swiss German; Switzerland being the “home of his first life.”
“I am honored to have been selected to serve Canadian veterinarians for the coming years. I am looking forward to working with the Executive, the Council, and the staff team in addressing the priorities of the CVMA and providing the best possible service to the CVMA members,” said Mr. am Rhyn.
