Intervet introduces NSAID for canines

A new NSAID for the treatment of acute and chronic musculoskeletal disorders is now available. Quadrisol®-5, containing vedaprofen, a potent nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, has been introduced by Intervet Canada Ltd.

Quadrisol-5 is available in 2 sizes, 15 mL and 30 mL. The product is a palatable gel containing 5 mg of vedoprofen per mL and is administered in an easy to use dial-a-dose syringe. It can be administered orally, with or without food.

Tolerance studies in dogs have shown that the clinical dose is well tolerated when given daily for a period of 90 days — 5 times higher dosages were tolerated reasonably well. The main side effects observed were gastrointestinal. Adverse effects caused by vedaprofen were entirely reversible. For more information, contact: Intervet Canada Ltd., 250 Water Street, Whitby, Ontario L1N 9T5; tel: (905) 430-9099.

Unparalleled vaccination flexibility and convenience now available for Canadian cattle producers

A more powerful way to build herd immunity is now available to cattle producers. Bovi-Shield®FP™ 4+L5 and PregGuard™ FP™ 9 are the first modified-live (MLV) vaccines to be approved for providing fetal protection against IBR-induced abortions and BVDV persistent infection.

Bovi-Shield® NC™ 4 is also the only MLV that is approved for administration to calves nursing pregnant cows, when label directions are followed. Now available to cattle producers, Bovi-Shield NC and the Fetal Protection™ products are the only vaccination product protocols of their type in Canada. By providing a complete protection program starting prior to breeding and conception and continuing through to the nursing calf, Bovi-Shield FP and NC are designed to prepare cattle herds for times of greatest challenge. They deliver a high level of protection against reproductive and respiratory diseases prior to periods of peak stress, when animals need it most.

Pfizer Animal Health believes that veterinarians are best suited to provide an effective vaccination protocol for cattle herds.
