I found this text to be well written, easy to follow, and very informative. As a registered veterinary technician who has been working in this field for more than 17 years but only with large animals in the last 2, this text provided a valuable review. Especially in regards to Chapter 2, Anatomy and Physiology; Chapter 13, Fluid Therapy; and Chapter 14, Nursing Care. I would have liked the text to include more on neonatal care, partic ularly in regards to therapy and parental nutrition. Also, it would have been helpful if more had been included on blood collection for the purpose of separation of blood products, banking, and storage.
The index is easy to follow, complete, and very informative. That the table of contents included abbreviations and acronyms was also very helpful. I feel that this text would be a useful teaching resource for the training of veterinary technicians in a college setting. It would also be an asset to any veterinary technician who has decided to specialize in the equine field in North America, even though some of the information contained is specific to the United Kingdom.
