Cranial cruciate ligament rupture is the most frequent pathology affecting the stifle joint of the adult dog. Regardless of the size of the patient or the severity of the degenerative changes present, surgical correction remains the treatment of choice. Despite the recent development of novel surgical techniques for the treatment of cruciate ruptures, the lateral fabellar-tibial suture remains an effective and “time-proven” technique to deal with such injuries. The technique is relatively straightforward and requires only a minimum of specialized instrumentation making it available to many private practices.
