(A and B) Brain infarction was detected by T2-weighted MRI. VPA significantly reduced the brain infarct volume in MCAO rats on day 14. N = 5 per group. The infarction is shown in the dotted areas. (C) Behavioral deficits were evaluated by rotarod test. VPA markedly increased the retention time of MCAO rats on an accelerating rotarod on days 7 and 14 after ischemia.
