Correction

In the article entitled “46-Year-Old Male With Fevers, Chills, and Pancytopenia” published in the August 2012 issue of Mayo Clinic Proceedings (Mayo Clin Proc. 2012;87(8):799-802), an error was noted. After question 4, there is a statement that the patient does not meet criteria for systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS). However, given his elevated temperature (39.2°C) and low white blood cell count (2 x 10⁹), he does appear to meet 2 of 4 SIRS criteria.
