Dr. Edward D J Cambridge
University of Waterloo
The CCA is delighted to announce that Dr. Ed Cambridge has been named the recipient of the 2012 CCA Young Investigator Award.
This award recognizes young researchers working in the field of chiropractic and is given for a paper submitted for this competition that has not yet been published, or for a recently published paper. The investigator has not had his/her degree longer than two years before submitting the work.
Dr. Cambridge has made very significant contributions to the chiropractic community.
Among his many achievements to date, he has recently published the two research papers set out below which have had very high impact in the scientific literature. As the “lead author” in both papers, Dr. Cambridge has established himself as a very capable young researcher and clearly in a position to collaborate effectively with world class researchers.
Cambridge EDJ, Sidorkewicz N, Ikeda D, McGill SM. (2012). Progressive hip rehabilitation: The effect of resistance band placement on gluteal activation during two common exercises. Clinical Biomechanics. Epub March 29.
Cambridge EDJ, Triano JJ, Ross JK, Abbott MS. (2012). Comparison of force development strategies of spinal manipulation used for thoracic pain. Manual Therapy. 17(3):241–5.
Dr. Edward Cambridge is a PhD candidate currently studying under the supervision of Professor Stuart McGill PhD (a world class researcher), in the Spine Biomechanics Laboratory in the Department of Kinesiology and the Faculty of Applied Health Science at the University of Waterloo in Ontario. He is currently working on “Hip and Spine Integration” and understanding this relationship through normal mechanics of the linkage, the effects of low back pain, and corrective exercise and rehabilitation.
Dr. Cambridge received the CIHR-CMCC summer student scholarship in 2008 and 2009 while at CMCC. More recently, he received the CIHR Sir Frederick Banting & Dr. Charles Best Canada Graduate Scholarship Award – for Master’s Students.
He graduated from Brock University in 2006 with a Bachelor in Kinesiology and received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto in 2010.
In 2011, Dr. Cambridge was fast-tracked from the Masters of Science program and immediately entered into the PhD program in Kinesiology (Biomechanics) at the University of Waterloo.
Congratulations to Dr. Cambridge!
