Abstract
Vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV)-specific messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) species contain sequences of adenylate-rich RNA which are more heterogeneous in their migration through sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gels than the corresponding fractions from HeLa cell mRNA. VSV virion RNA contains no adenylaterich sequences. The possible role of such sequences in the mRNA species of a cytoplasmically replicating virus is discussed.
