The strain of Burkholderia pseudomallei used in Nelson et al. (2011) was provided in good faith by the Health Protection Agency and reported as strain K96243 based on information provided at the time of deposit into the NCTC collection. Subsequently HPA have advised that, based on sequencing data generated by Prof. Paul Keim and their own subsequent investigations, B. pseudomallei NCTC 13392 is not strain K96243. No other studies published by Dstl are affected.
