Cell counts were performed on 200 μm lengths of dissected intestine. 5HT-positive, Elavl-negative cells were counted as enteroendocrine cells (EE cells). Relative difference refers to the arithmetic difference between mean cell counts. P values were calculated via two-tailed unpaired Student's t-test. The overall mean relative difference is −0.6 cells. Abbreviations: Std.Dev., standard deviation.
