Citrate synthase activity for the exercise trained and sedentary FHM pigs. The data for pigs that did not train on the treadmill (SED) and for the exercised trained (EX) pigs for deltoid muscle (DELT) and long head of the triceps brachii (TLH) muscles of FHM pigs are shown in the top part while those for normal pigs are shown in the bottom part of the figure. Means ± SEM are presented (FHM SED = 8, EX = 5; Normal Pigs n = 8 in both SED and EX groups) for samples that were obtained at sacrifice. Note that exercise training induced similar increases in citrate synthase activity in both FHM and normal pigs. * indicates that the EX value is significantly greater (P less than 0.05) than the SED value for that muscle.
