Figure 2.

Multisensory trials commenced with the appearance of a fixation cross. After a variable interval (1,000–2,000 ms) the first stimulus (S1) was presented. The second stimulus (S2) was presented following a variable SOA. Participants responded via button press as quickly and accurately as possible to the detection of any stimulus. Response time (RT) was recorded to the nearest millisecond. Trials terminated after subject response or after 1,500 ms.
