The figure illustrates the equivalent attachment/anchor function of the TM helix and the R-domain for Bcl-xL and the diphtheria toxin, respectively. The membrane insertion of the T-domain and the N-terminal region of Bcl-xL occur regardless of the attachment to the membrane.
