Analysis of the effect of truncation of S12's extension in vitro. Truncation of the extension by more than 10 amino acids affects the function of 30S particles in vitro. Activity of particles is measured by the ability to bind labeled tRNA. Results were normalized to tRNA binding by 30S subunits reconstituted with S12WT.
