Since the publication of this article, the authors have discovered several errors and brought them to the attention of the publisher.
The main error concerns two instances (both on Page 2) in which 'ammonia oxidation' has been incorrectly substituted with ‘annammox'.
The remaining error concerns one instance (Page 2) in which the word ‘anaerobic' has been incorrectly spelt as ‘anerobic'.
The errors have now been rectified, and the correct article appears in this issue. The html and online pdf versions have also been rectified, and now carry the correct paper.
